Certified Veterinary Technician

Kurtz Veterinary Clinic is a mixed animal veterinary practice seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our small animal team. Our team is highly experienced and devoted to providing the highest quality nursing care to our patients.

This position will be approximately 30-40 hours/week Monday-Friday with variable scheduling on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Position will require 1-2 Saturday mornings per month.  Pay is based on experience.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assist Veterinarian in appointments
  • Animal restraint
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples including blood, urine and feces
  • Perform maintenance on laboratory and dental equipment
  • Prepare lab samples to be sent to outside laboratories
  • Diagnostic imaging 
  • Care of surgical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administration of medications
  • Fill prescriptions as directed by veterinarian
  • Surgical preparation, assistance, monitoring, and patient recovery
  • Effective communication with clients
  • Perform injections, suture removals, and nail trims
  • Provide patient triage
  • Clean kennels, animal holding areas, surgery suites, examination rooms, to control the spread of disease 

Qualifications include but not limited to:

  • Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician with current certification
  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude team member
  • Ability to arrive on-time and work when scheduled
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • A self-starting team player with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback in a professional manner to maintain hospital efficiency
  • Proven experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital setting
  • Strong knowledge of animal care practices, medical protocols, and veterinary terminology.
  • - Ability to handle and restrain animals in a safe and compassionate manner
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
