**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Barn Hollow Veterinary Services. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a desire to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical attention to our patients. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting with daily operations, ensuring the comfort and well-being of animals, and providing excellent customer service to pet owners.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, surgeries, and other procedures.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are ready for use.
- Restrain animals for examinations and procedures safely and humanely.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the veterinarian.
- Assist in administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilization of instruments and disposal of waste.
- Manage laboratory samples, including collection, preparation, and submission for testing.
- Handle client communications, including scheduling appointments, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, including nutrition, dental care, and preventative health measures.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
- Perform administrative tasks such as record keeping and maintaining patient files.
**Qualifications:**
- Must have experience working with large animal.(Cattle, Horses, Sheep, Goats etc)
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in veterinary assisting is a plus.
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility preferred.
- Strong knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-service orientation.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to animal care.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and scheduling.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to lift and carry animals up to 100lbs pounds.
- Stamina to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Comfortable working with various types of animals in a clinical setting.
