Veterinary Technician / Assistant
Animal Clinic of Monett is a mixed animal Veterinary Practice, looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician/Assistant. We provide the highest level of veterinary medicine along with friendly, compassionate service. We believe in treating every patient as if they were our own pet and giving them the same loving attention and care. Our Technician/Assistant team is highly experienced and devoted to providing the highest quality nursing care to our patients.
This position will be a full-time position. Monday-Friday and every other Saturday.
Responsibilities include but not limited to
- Animal restraint
- Triage of incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Care of surgical and hospitalized cases
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthetic management
Qualifications include but not limited to:
- A high work ethic and positive attitude team member
- Ability to arrive on-time
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely
- Interpret medical records and record client history accurately
- Cares for and monitors the condition of animals recovering from surgery.
- Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests
- Perform laboratory tests on blood, urine, and feces such as urinalyses and blood counts to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health problems. Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, serums, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Take and develop diagnostic radiographs using x-ray equipment. Bathe animals, clips nails or claws.
- Prepare patients and rooms for surgery and medical appointments including cleaning kennels, animal holding areas, surgery suites, examination rooms, and animal loading/unloading facilities to control the spread of disease.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- A self-starting team player with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
- Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency
- 1-year veterinary tech/assistant experience preferred
