POSITION OVERVIEW
The HR Generalist owns day-to-day HR Operations: benefits administration, onboarding and offboarding, leave of absence (FMLA/state leave), payroll support, and front-line employee relations triage, escalating complex or high-risk matters to the HRBP or HR Leadership. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Onboarding: coordinate new hire paperwork, I-9/E-Verify, orientation scheduling, benefits enrollment setup, and system account provisioning.
- Offboarding: process terminations and resignations, conduct exit interviews, monitor/issue COBRA notices, and coordinate final pay with payroll.
- Benefits Administration: handle day-to-day enrollment, qualifying life events, employee benefits questions, and vendor issue coordination; support open enrollment.
- Leave of Absence: administer standard FMLA, WC, company leave, and state leave requests, track leave balances and return-to-work dates, and coordinate leave pay status with payroll.
- Payroll Support: process and validate biweekly payroll inputs, timesheet corrections, and new hire/termination payroll setup; respond to routine payroll inquiries.
- Employee Relations Triage: serve as the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns, document and route issues appropriately.
- HR Systems & Records: maintain accurate, complete employee records in the HRIS.
- Support required postings, recordkeeping, and other basic HR compliance tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-4 years of experience in an HR generalist or HR operations role covering multiple functional areas.
- Working knowledge of US employment law fundamentals (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA).
- Deep, hands-on expertise in EITHER US payroll processing OR FMLA/leave of absence administration (at least one required).
- Comfort working across benefits, onboarding/offboarding, and employee relations even outside area of deepest expertise.
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms (e.g., Paylocity or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and sound judgement handling confidential information.
