POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a summer veterinary technician intern. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the care of pets, work efficiently, independently, and as a part of a team. In this role, you will assist veterinarians & technicians with clinical procedures and ensure that patients are provided with the best care in a supportive and caring environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist veterinarians with patient examinations (animal restraint & handling)
  • Client communication (handling phone calls & instruction/education)
  • Assisting with surgery (surgical prep, assisting monitoring, scrub nurse, pre & post-op care)
  • Collecting and running samples/tests
  • Updating & maintaining medical records and patient profiles
  • Provide excellent patient care (prioritizing team & patient safety)
  • Maintain a clean clinic atmosphere ( sterilize instruments, clean & stock exam/surgery room)
  • Preparing medications/orders/food for client pick up
  • Billing/Invoicing efficiently & accurately

QUALIFICATIONS

Have communication skills & interpersonal skills.

Applicant must be able to be on feet for a duration of the day, be able to lift 50 pounds regularly, be able to bend or twist. 

Experience with customer service or veterinary medicine is an advantage!
